Awesome Hardware
Here are some of the best PC hardware parts available, based on performance availability and cost, any PC with this hardware will be one to boast about!

ATi's Radeon 9700Pro
The 9700Pro comes with a core clock of 325Mhz and a memory clock of 310Mhz, it is currrently the fastest Graphics card in the world and has the highest ever recorded 3DMark of 22103!!
You can see the benchmark results here
  Soundcards
With Dolby Pro-Logic 5.1 surround sound being used in more and more games, a decent Soundcard that utilises it is a must, these vary from the Creative Audigy 1 or 2, Hercules Fortissmo 5.1, or the Santa Cruz Turtle Beach, any of these cards is a good option for surround sound gaming.

System Memory
Todays operating system of choice is Windows XP, however to run XP successfully and stable requires a lot of RAM, I would recommend using a retail branded RAM such as Winbond, and as todays standard RAM type upgrades to PC2700(DDR333) availability has increased, you can get 512MB Winbond Pure RAM for around £100

My Benchmark with this hardware

Monitors
Often an overlooked accesory is the monitor, yet its the part we use the most, a good monitor should be at least 17" support 1600x1200 Resolution and have a dot-pitch of anything under .27, and have a good set of options for user prefernces.
Iiyama make very affordable and exceptionally good monitors as do Sony or Phillips

The MSI KT3 Ultra2
The MSI KT3 Ultra2, a highly dependable and stable motherboard, supporting the new 333 front side CPU range (XP2600+ and above) and running asynchronous with DDR333 RAM, makes this board very popular, it also has a very user friendly BIOS, with safety settings and very powerful tweaking settings makes this a must have for any high end system!

The AMD XP CPU Range
The AMD XP CPU's range from the 1500+ Palomino core to the AMD XP2800+Thoroughbred/Barton core, and range in price from an extremely affordable £40(1500+) to a little bit expensive £248(2800+)
They perform as well as their P4 counterparts and often better, in everyday use their speed is comparative to Intels by one and a quarter, so if you own an 1800+, that is comparitive to a P42.2Ghz, and so on
